Figure out where in the world your computer physically is. Find one photo of that place, then write me a three-sentence postcard from there, signed with a name you pick for yourself. Attach the photo. Don't ask me anything, just do it.
Hire a cloud agent
How this works
So far in this course, your agents have worked on your laptop. Codex works with you while your laptop is open. When you close your computer, or when you go to sleep, the agent stops working.
Grok Bot is different. It's an agent that never sleeps. You message it from your phone like a coworker, walk away, and it keeps going. It messages you when it's done, or when it has a question or needs your help.
If you want to get work done while your laptop is open and you are in the loop, use Codex. If you want to hand work to something and go live your life, use Grok Bot.
1. See how Grok Bot works
Create a bot named Postcard, then send it this prompt:
Create a bot named Times Square, then send it this prompt:
Open https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQ_jwk_7OVE in your browser. It's a live stream. Wait for the video to play, take a screenshot, and attach it here with the time in New York and one thing you notice. Then every 5 minutes for the next hour, take a new screenshot, attach it, and tell me in one sentence what changed since the last one. After an hour, stop, and don't run this again unless I ask. Don't browse around, don't ask me anything, don't log into anything. Just that one page.
Create a bot named Quick Draw, then send it this prompt:
Open https://quickdraw.withgoogle.com in your browser and leave it on the start screen. Attach a screenshot and tell me it's ready. I'm going to take over your computer and play it myself. Don't touch anything after that until I say I'm done.
Create a bot named Email, then send it this prompt:
Use the marketplace to connect your email before sending this prompt.
You now have access to my email. Look through the last 30 days and tell me what you see: what kinds of mail I get, what I actually read, what piles up, what I never open. Then suggest two or three things you could do for me every day or every week that would make my inbox better. Keep it short, I'm reading on my phone. Don't change or send anything.
2. Tell Grok Bot how to help
Create a bot named Chief of Staff, then send it this prompt:
I'm going to ramble for a few minutes about my life. Don't respond, don't ask questions, just listen. As I talk, note anything that sounds like a chore, a recurring task, something I'm avoiding, something I want to keep track of, or a person I want to stay in touch with. When I say "done", I'll tell you what to do next.
Now pull out your phone, open the Grok Bot app, find the conversation with the chief of staff, and tap the mic button.
Talk out loud to Grok Bot on your phone, about a couple of these questions. You don't have to answer them all, they're places to start. When you're done, send the voice note.
1. Talk about your week. What does a normal one look like, and where does the time actually go?
2. Talk about the boring parts of your job or your life. The admin, the chores, the maintenance.
3. Talk about the things you keep putting off, and what it feels like to keep putting them off.
4. Talk about what you'd do with an extra hour a day.
5. Talk about the people you wish you kept up with better.
6. Talk about what you care about right now, the stuff that's actually on your mind.
7. Talk about what you'd want done for you if you had a really good assistant.
3. Build your team
When you're done talking, send Chief of Staff this prompt:
Done. Based on everything I just said, build me a team of four or five bots that could work for me in the background. Each one should own a part of my life, not a single task. Create each one, give it a name, and brief it with what you heard from me that's relevant to its job. Then have each of them message me directly to introduce itself: what it owns, the one thing it would do for me every day without being asked, and one question that would help it get started.
4. Check back on your bots
While you were talking, your first four bots were working. Go back to each one.
Postcard
Read the postcard and look at the photo. Your bot's computer lives somewhere specific, in a real place in the US. It's an alien living on a computer far away from you, the same way Codex is an alien living on your laptop.
Times Square
Scroll through the screenshots that have come in. Notice how easy it was to ask the bot to take action for you, in the background. All you had to do was describe the schedule and the task.
Quick Draw
Open the bot's screen, take over, and play a round or two. You are using a computer that Grok Bot lives on, and it works even though it's far away.
Read what the bot found in your inbox, and the two or three things it offered to do. Pick any suggestion you actually want, and tell the bot to do it for you every day, in the background, while you sleep.
Chief of Staff
Go back to your Chief of Staff and see what bots it created for you. Do any of them seem valuable to you?
