Class 2 Handout
Class 2 Key Lessons
Cloud agents
- Codex works with you while your laptop is open. A cloud agent like Grok Bot has its own computer and keeps working after you close yours.
- If you want work done while you’re in the loop, use Codex. If you want to hand work off and go live your life, use a cloud agent.
- A cloud agent lives in a real place, on a real computer, far away from you. It can browse the web, take screenshots, and use apps there, and you can take over its screen when you want to.
- To get an agent working in the background, describe the task and the schedule. That’s all it takes.
- Connect your agent to the apps you already use, like email, and let it read before it acts. Ask it what it sees and what it could do for you, then choose.
- You don’t need to know what you want an agent to do. Talk out loud about your life, and let the agent find the chores, recurring tasks, and things you’re avoiding.
- Give each agent a part of your life to own, not a single task. A team of a few bots, each briefed on what matters to you, beats one bot doing everything.
- Check back on your agents. Read what they produced, keep what’s valuable, and tell them to keep doing it while you sleep.
Being specific
- Your agent is a genie. It grants the wish you asked for, not the one you imagined. Anything you leave vague gets the average interpretation, right down to the implementation details.
- Specification is the art of saying exactly what you want, so nothing important is left vague and you get the exact thing you had in mind.
- The easiest way to get a specific outcome is to copy something that already exists. Clone it first, then change it.
- Everything is a remix. Stop trying to be original. Take a great idea and make it better, or combine two ideas that have never been combined before.
- Copying other people’s prompts shows you what a model can do in a single shot, and gives you a rough idea of what a month or two of work could produce.
Borrowing expertise
- Agents have the whole internet in their weights, but by default they use the most average part of it. Point them at the best part by naming who already does this work well.
- Precise terminology borrows an entire domain of knowledge. “Pixel art” is not “8-bit,” and “chiptune in the style of Bach” is a much tighter request than “a nice song.”
- You can enter a domain you have never worked in by following the method of the best person in the world at it, especially someone you look up to or who has done what you want to do.
- Skills and plugins install expert knowledge into your agent, so it can call on that expertise any time.
- Creative work gets easier with a structured method. Borrow a step-by-step process for a novel or a song and work through it with your agent.
- You don’t need to know that a method exists. Assume it does, and ask your agent to find it.
- Be straightforward, clear, and encouraging with your agent. Like a person, it does better work that way.
- The best source material is in your head. Remix what is unique in your life with the best work of experts, and you can make huge progress on your goals.
Class 2 Setup
By the end of class two, you should have:
- Grok Bot on your phone, with a few bots that ran a task for you in the background
- Your email connected to Grok Bot through the marketplace, and at least one bot reading your inbox
- A Chief of Staff bot that has heard you talk about your life, and has built you a team of four or five bots
- At least one bot doing something for you every day
